Which years exist — and why it isn't ten

Papers before 2019 either weren't published online or were never sat. This is a gap in the exam record itself, not in this archive.

How to read a paper's name

Each subject has fifteen-odd papers per year. They are not fifteen different exams.

    • 55 — subject code. CBSE labels papers by code: 55 Physics, 56 Chemistry, 57 Biology, 1 English Core, 75 Physical Education.
    • 1 — series. Different regions and exam zones sit different papers on the same day. Series numbers run 1 to 7 depending on the year.
    • 1 — set. Within one hall, neighbours get sets 1, 2 and 3 — same syllabus and difficulty, questions shuffled so nobody can copy.

Making sense of this many papers

A practical order to work through them.

    1. Start with the newest year and work backwards. The most recent paper matches the current syllabus and question pattern most closely.
    2. One set per series is enough. Sets 1, 2 and 3 of a series are the same exam shuffled. Do 55-1-1, then move to 55-2-1 — not 55-1-2.
    3. That's about five real papers per subject per year — roughly 25 genuinely different papers per subject across the archive.
    4. Time yourself. Board papers are three hours. An untimed paper teaches you the questions; a timed one teaches you the exam.
    5. Save the shuffled sets for revision week. You'll recognise the questions but not their order — exactly what you want on a second pass.
